Constantine Roussos, a Greek-Cypriot entrepreneur, musician, songwriter, engineer, producer, and CEO of DotMusic recently had his application approved for managing the registration of .Music domain names.
The intent behind creating the .music name extension is to provide music publishers, composers, and songwriters throughout the world the opportunity to claim and protect their names against cybersquatters.
A verification process will be implemented to ensure that .music domain names are only registered to artists who have a legitimate claim to the requested name.
Gadi Oron, Director General of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), said, “As the world’s largest global network for creators, with member societies in over 120 countries, CISAC welcomes the .Music domain and the opportunities it can create to develop a stronger and more responsible environment for licensed music.”
